01
Phone Triage
You describe the symptom: burning smell, sparking outlet, dead half of the house, or a breaker that trips the moment you reset it. We ask three or four questions to gauge urgency, tell you what to shut off immediately, and dispatch the nearest licensed electrician. Most Goldsboro calls get a technician on site within 60 to 90 minutes.
02
Panel and Service Check
We kill the main, remove the dead front, and inspect every breaker, bus bar and lug. A Fluke clamp meter and voltage tester confirm incoming voltage and check for a lost leg. We look for water intrusion, rust, scorched bus stabs, and double-tapped breakers, then photograph the interior for your records.
03
Circuit-by-Circuit Testing
Working room by room, we plug a receptacle tester into every outlet, verify switch function, and open accessible junction boxes. An insulation resistance tester checks suspect runs for damaged Romex wire or THHN conductors. This is where we usually find the short circuit or loose neutral behind the symptom you called about.
04
Fault Isolation and Repair
Once we locate the fault, we isolate that circuit and repair it: replace the failed breaker, re-terminate the burned connection, swap the sparking outlet, or repair damaged wire. Repairs use UL-listed parts and follow NEC and NFPA 70E safety practices. You watch the meter readings come back into range before we close anything up.
05
Final Load Test and Report
We re-energize the system, load the repaired circuit with a space heater or similar draw, and confirm stable voltage under load. Then we walk you through the findings, hand you the written report, and flag anything that should be scheduled later. Total time for a typical inspection and repair runs two to four hours.
